Tour Snapshot
The southeast of Cappadocia is full of relatively unvisited historic treasures. From the chaming Greek village of Mustafapaşa all the way to the fruitful gardens and exquisitely-painted rock churches of Soğanlı Valley, there is so much to explore.
Off the beaten track you can explore the unspoiled natural life of the region. A spectacular landscape home to ancient relics, sophisticated architecture, cave cities and holy places. Charming handcrafts unite with a slow food culture based in family farms and gardens. Experience a complete picture of the variety of lifestyles over 12 centuries.
Full itinerary
You will be picked up from your hotel in Cappadocia between 9.00 – 9.30 am. The exploration begins with Mustafapaşa village’s classic architecture. You will find it a stark contrast to the bizarre eroded landscape that is the Keslik Monastery with the 13th century frescoes of the Church of St Michael at its heart. Just a few kilometers from Keslik, but centuries later, Taşkinpaşa Village is home to a now-unused Medrese (religious seminary). Later you will see the working archaeological site at the ruins of Sobesos with its mosaics and buildings which are the first traces of a mixed Roman and Christian settlement in Cappadocia. After an easy hike you will enjoy a local-style lunch in Soğanlı Valley. The return trip visits an underground city, completing your exploration of the variety of lifestyles over 12 centuries before returning to your hotel late in the afternoon.
